Christmas time is my favorite season! I love decorating, getting dressed for the cold and doing Christmas activities with the kids. Hot chocolate, marshmallows, Christmas carols and knitted blankets are just some of the things I enjoy about the season! We also create a few Christmas crafts each year and the kids enjoy them!
The one we love most and still use today is the advent calendar we created. I printed holiday activities for the kids to do throughout the month of December and put them in envelopes for the kids to open each day. If you want to see how I made this in detail, click on my advent calendar post.
There was also one Christmas when we made some candy cane Christmas tree ornaments made of felt and some needle and thread. I had a lot of left over felt in my art box and the children watched me make candy cane felt ornaments one afternoon. Things you will need: red felt paper, hot glue, needle, thread, ribbons and cotton. Here are a few photos.
My favorite Christmas project was when we made a modern Christmas tree on one wall of a rental apartment we lived in for a while. We lived in a very small place for a few months while our house was being built and had no room for an actual tree so we got creative and made a tree with some old cards I had. It turned out to be so cute and the kids loved it! To see more alternative Christmas tree ideas, click here.
Last year we stenciled some Christmas words on our kitchen tiles and glass windows. The kids loved doing this and it turned out so pretty. The nice things about painting on tile or glass with acrylic is that they easily come off when you want to wash them. Here is how you can do your own Christmas stencil project at home.
What are your Christmas family traditions and do you make Christmas projects with the Kids?
