What better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than to visit The Gourmand Market and be enchanted with music, healthy food finds and old friends! It was a spur of the moment decision.. I got my kids dressed and we headed to The Bonifacio High Street Central at BGC. As soon as we got there my kids spotted the farm surrounded by a wooden picket fence. The sight of rabbits and goats caught their attention and I could no longer get them to go around with me. I must admit I was pretty thrilled with the thought of taking their pictures amidst the furry animals.

Holy Carabao’s farm setup was surely entertaining for the kids. They are not only known for The Fun Farm adventure where kids can interact with animals, but they sell the best organic produce as well. Hindy Weber Tantoco, owner of the Holy Carabao is a good friend and has inspired me to go organic with the products I use and food I eat.

The home decor from Home Root was a pleasant addition to the food booths.
Since I love anything to do with the home, particularly decor, I was thrilled to see a booth called Home Root that specializes in vases, jars, ceramics, and other decor. My all time favorite, Domesticity was also there. I buy Christmas gifts from them every year, their products are not only pretty but very useful too.

After one round around the market taking photos and greeting friends, it was time to shop and eat! I bought the best hummus from Real Girl Toy Kitchen and it was sooo good! I must have tasted every sampler from my friend, Johanna Garcia’s booth! Thank God I know her so it didn’t matter if she thought I was some starved mom!

Next to her booth was Nicole Ortega’s gallery of bottled goods. The cheese pimiento looked so good, I promised her I would order from her site. Would you believe I ran out of cash in this weekend market! (Yes, how shameful!) As much as I wanted to buy something from my friend, I told her I would order online.

So much food! I tried the Kale Chips from Take Root, the little pies from Art of Pie and decided to let go and allow my kids to have some cotton candy. They wanted it so much and stayed in line for 10 minutes! I also bought a pack of grass fed beef and organic chicken from Down to Earth.
The Gourmand Market is inspired by the Borough Market in London and was organized by Trish Panlilio of NawwTys Kitchen and Dara Roa, known as the Collab Contessa. They plan to hold this twice a year. It was one of those perfect family Sundays.. bumping into old friends, seeing my kids smile with delight over the little things like nibbling bunnies, and a gastronomic feast of healthy almost all organic food booths. I am wanting more of these weekend market, art filled Sundays in our Metro!
