If you’ve been following my Instagram, you would have noticed that all my photos this past week reflect nature. Hint, hint.. follow me on IG please!:) Look for marilenph. I’ve been posting photos of gorgeous flowers, produce and the outdoors. No, I’m not turning into a farmer, but I do love staying up here at my parents farm. It’s just so relaxing and I love that my kids get to live around nature. I let my son wander.. my girl loves picking flowers and both love to feed the animals. Here is a typical day at the farm..
Our house has big glass windows so we wake up to the sun kissing our noses pretty early. The kids are up by 6:30 and they have breakfast then visit the chickens. “Hi girls..” is what they like to say when they approach the “chicken hotel”. Henny, Penny, and Lenny are Australian Brown Breeds that lay gorgeous brown eggs.
They are free range and get to roam around their little fenced area, pecking on worms and they get served fresh fruits and veggies aside from their grain. Once they are full they get ready to lay eggs. Here is Henny getting ready to lay an egg..
You’re really not supposed to bother them when they are laying but I just had to take a quick shot..
After the chickens, the kids may go for a swim in their mini pool. Then we hang out, play, do water color or paint Easter eggs. After lunch the kids sleep then they might go for an afternoon stroll around..
They also like to visit the geese and pick the feathers that fall on the ground. They’re pretty aggressive though so we don’t go too near.
A friend who lives near by and is half Israeli, half Filipino comes to play in the afternoon. They go around pretending to be soldiers. Sometimes they pick fresh fruits. They got some star apples the other day.. It is a lovely exotic fruit that is shaped like a star when cut cross wise.
I on the other hand got to enjoy rest, going back to painting with water color and blogging! It’s been a busy month in Manila so this break is a gift. I enjoy walking around with the kids, picking herbs, whipping up a fresh salad and going to the wet market. I wish I could stay longer but we head back home tomorrow. I’ve got some photo shoots lined up, model units to put together and a house to finish, clean and move into. Sigh! maybe one weekend we can sneak a trip back here this month. How was your Holy Week?
