I came across the blog of Igor Josifovic called Happy Interior Blog through Pinterest. His inspiring photos of lush greenery inside homes was definitely refreshing. I loved his pins and never knew there were numerous creative ways to add life through plants inside a home. When I saw his beautiful new book called Urban Jungle, I simply had to order my copy. Published in English and German Wohnen in Gruen, is written by both Igor Josifovic and Judith Graaff of Joelix. Interestingly, this duo also founded Urbanjunglebloggers.com a few years back.
Styling with indoor plants and incorporating them into my home and interior design projects was never something that came naturally. I din’t know how to do it and had no idea on which plants worked. It took tons of research, pinning inspirational photos and looking at Igor’s Instagram! haha! Through this book, readers get a lot of ideas on how to live with plants. It takes you through a visual voyage to five different homes filled with inspiration creativity and life. Turning a bathroom into a lush spa with plants, using vintage ceramic cups and pots from flea markets and learning to work with succulents and cacti are just some of the things taught in this book. I am still amazed at how these homes literally make plants a part of their lives. The first couple was described as living in their home in the Netherlands with their 2 cats and 50 house plants! Fancy huh?! Here is a glimpse of the pretty homes in this book. I highly recommend this for those who want to try living with nature and use plants to add life and clean air in your home. It is a great complete resource, the only one you will ever need to start your own urban garden or if you wish, jungle. As the authors say, “You don’t need a green thumb – all you need is the book ‘Urban Jungle’! ”
