While I am personally attracted to neutral tones, I see why you need to add color to your home. I’ve seen spaces look completely drab due to the lack of color and texture. Color is like the cherry on your dessert, the bling on your ring. It adds life to a space and can make a huge difference in uplifting ones mood. Color can affect your emotions too. If you want an in depth study on color and what it can do for you, visit my blog post on color psychology here. I’ve seen spaces filled with color and different patterns one would never think of putting together, yet it works like candy sprinkles on top of ice cream. What makes color work in a space and how can you tastefully add color to you home? Consider these options:
Add color to your home by choosing a happy design theme.
The beauty about interior design is that there are no boundaries when it comes to creativity. Who said design themes have to remain in an era or who says they have to be influenced by a certain country? Think about using fun themes like fiestas or beach fantasy. Collect props or decor in these themes and tastefully add them around your home.
Add color by sprucing up a feature wall.
Pick a focal point in your room to add a splash of color two. I created a really cool feature wall for a bedroom and it had some metallic glittering stuff! Check out my DIY video on how to paint a bedroom wall on my YouTube page. Here are good wall suggestions that you can add color on.. Your headboard wall, a gallery wall, the wall behind your sofa, the main wall of your dining room, the inside of an open shelf feature.
Introduce color into your home by adding colorful furniture pieces.
Add some color to your home by using statement furniture in bold color. Perhaps you have a buffet table that you can repaint with an accent color? Think about making a statement with your bed headboard. Add some colorful dining chairs to make your eating area come to life.
Add Color to your home by going for bright colorful accessories and decor.
Some people prefer to keep their walls white. Some people aren’t bold enough to live with bright-colored furniture. To those of you who lean towards the classics, add some color and cheer into your home by adding colorful accessories.
